Three men were hurt when a construction job took a turn for the worse, in Boca Raton, FL. The workers were pouring concrete on the second floor of a home on Spanish River Road; however, the weight of the concrete and reinforcing steel was too heavy and the supporting structures collapsed. Alec Glickman was working on a house down the street and remembers hearing a loud boom, when he looked over he noticed a guy under wood. One of the workers was treated at the scene of the accident; however, two workers were sent to the hospital with severe injuries, including possible broken bones and internal injuries. Local and State investigators are looking into the accident and will decided on how to proceed.

It comes to no surprise that construction jobs are one of the most dangerous professions in the country. This danger is only enhanced by the maneuvering of heavy equipment, working with dangerous substances, and the constant state of risk while building high rises, highways, buildings, and other projects. Those dangers are faced daily, causing devastating construction accidents, and fatalities. In 2010, there were a reported 774 fatal on-the-job injuries in the construction industry.

Some of the more common injuries one can sustain when working a construction job are:

Often times a construction worker is injured due to the negligence of another individual. An employer could fail to train an employee to perform a dangerous task correctly, resulting in severe injuries. Or subcontractors working side-by-side could injure each other. In addition, machinery that is improperly maintained can cause devastating and fatal injuries.

Florida construction accidents are often life changing. A worker could be out of work for weeks or months at a time. In the most serious of accidents, an injury could prevent an individual from ever working again. Sadly, the loss of financial support on top of medical costs can financially debilitate a family.
